We always recommend that you have at least a HBR carried out on any property that you intend to buy. There are many good reasons for having a HBR & few if any bad ones!
Any failing in structural condition discovered after the purchase will become your liability and not that of the lender who will potentially expect you to maintain at least the value of the property as part of their terms of supplying you the finance.
